By conducting a door-to-door survey, researchers can be sure to solicit responses/data from an isolated audience. Door-to-Door surveys are also critical for ensuring data collection from respondents who might be unlikely or unable to participate in other survey methodologies, such as surveys that are conducted online and delivered via email. Interviewers conduct interviews with respondents at their houses based on a prepared questionnaire. Each interview should take place within less than 40 minutes.

Researchers evaluates a store as an anonymous customer to provide an unbiased analysis of the store’s operations. This can include how customers are greeted, how much time they have to wait till served, how they are consulted about the company’s products/services, etc. Evaluations are reported with objectivity so that the brand/store can identify exactly what the problems are for future improvement. Evaluators pose as consumers and record chronicle detailed information about their mystery shopping experience using questionnaires or narrative reports.
