Researchers evaluates a store as an anonymous customer to provide an unbiased analysis of the store’s operations. This can include how customers are greeted, how much time they have to wait till served, how they are consulted about the company’s products/services, etc. Evaluations are reported with objectivity so that the brand/store can identify exactly what the problems are for future improvement. Evaluators pose as consumers and record chronicle detailed information about their mystery shopping experience using questionnaires or narrative reports. As such, they have to experience a selected part of the customer journey as naturally as a true customer to evaluate pre-determined criteria for the store operation.
